Cuban Bows Out Of The Biz

Biggest film news of the day isn’t the announced slate of Directors Fortnight titles at Cannes, it’s that  Mark Cuban is bowing out of the film business. Today he announced that Landmark Theatres and Magnolia Pictures, two parts of  2929 Entertainment, his vertically integrated film business, is on the market because of their supposed “huge valuations.” What could this mean for Seattle, which this week alone is screening 26 films, and recently abandoned operations at its Neptune Theatre.
